This year, Kelsall Steele have chosen Cornwall Hospice Care as our charity of the year. Throughout 2017 we will be raising funds through a number of different events and activities; from sweepstakes, bake-off competitions and dress down Fridays!
In 2015 we were able to raise over £1,000 for the Macmillan Cove Appeal and last year we raised in excess of £1,500 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association – this year we are hoping to do even better again and topple our £1,500 fundraising target for Cornwall Hospice Care.
Cornwall Hospice Care is a leading independent Cornish charity providing special care free of charge, to patients with life limiting illnesses aged 18 and over at two Cornwall based hospices – Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell and St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle
Mount Edgcumbe Hospice and St Julia’s Hospice provide a welcome sanctuary for people affected by life limiting illnesses. All patients are treated with respect, offering them personalised care in a compassionate setting. More than half go home after treatment and all receive their care completely free of charge.
Rugby Six Nations Smart-Sweepstake
As one of our fundraising ideas this year we chose to hold a ‘smart sweep‘ on the recent Six Nations Rugby tournament. Staff paid a £5 entry fee and each week were asked to predict the winner of each Rugby match as well as the points difference. Based upon their selection and how close they guessed the point gap participants were awarded points, we then ranked them in a league table. At the end of the tournament James came out victorious, with Bernard a close second followed by Clare‘s husband Simon. As a result of entries we raised £100 towards our target!
In March we held a bake-sale – staff either baked their own or brought in cakes which we sold throughout the day to staff members and other businesses in the local area.
The cakes sold really well and we were delighted to have raised £105.68!
Dress Down Fridays
We have continued our ‘Dress Down Fridays‘ this year and recently, after filling up our collection tin, we had it collected by Cornwall Hospice Care. They wrote to us few days later to say we had raised an amazing £174.22 – and this is just for the first 6 months of the year, so we’re hoping to at least double this number by the end of the year!
