Proud Achievement for Big Employer

One of the county's largest accountants and financial advisers was recently awarded the highly coveted Investors in People (IIP) award.

Local Accountants and Financial Advisers Kelsall Steele, who employ over 60 people across their offices in Truro and Camborne are one of the latest companies to be recognised by Investors In People for their commitment to their staff. The Investors in People Standard has long been acknowledged as a business improvement tool, helping organisations of every size, type and location to gain more from their people in support of business goals.

Essentially, IIP is all about employers empowering their employees. Quality South West who administer the scheme in Cornwall state that; "Involving staff has several advantages for both employers and their staff, including more motivated staff, lower absenteeism and turnover of staff, and improved efficiency and productivity."

The IIP standard outlines key principles that an applying organisation must demonstrate an existing commitment to. These include; developing effective strategies to improve the performance of the organisation through its people; taking effective action to improve the performance of the organisation through its people, and the ability to demonstrate the impact of its investment in people on the performance of the organisation.

Commitment to these principles in many cases requires employers to make changes to the way their businesses run. In Kelsall Steele's case the changes were minimal and staff were encouraged by the fact that many of the required standards have long since been in place.
