Charity Golf Day 2011 raises an impressive £5500
Kelsall Steele's fourth Annual Charity Golf Day held on Thursday 22nd September in Falmouth - this year in aid of The Motor Neurone Disease Association (http://www.mndcornwall.org.uk/) raises £5,500.
An impressive 25 teams took part on the day, with a raffle, a charity auction and a putting contest, all held to help boost the fundraising on the day.
Lucien Trathen, Financial Services Director, who organised the day, said he had been inspired to raise the money for the charity by one of the member's at Falmouth Golf Club. He said: "We were inspired to raise money for the motor neurone disease association by Brian Stephens, a member at the club who suffers from the disease."
"He came to me last year and asked if Kelsall Steele would donate to the association, and I said we would have a think about how we could do it. I decided holding the golf day event for them would be a great way of raising a lot of money for the charity."
We had an auction with some prizes kindly donated by local businesses, and a raffle to win a hospitality box at Old Trafford to watch Manchester United's final game of the season against Swansea City, which was popular.
Lucien said he had been delighted by the weather on the day of the event. He said: "It makes such a difference. I had been watching the forecast all week and keeping my fingers crossed. If it is raining, people are miserable, but on a day when the weather is good, they will go out, enjoy a round of golf, and come in happy to part with money for a good cause."
Following the donation to the charity, Kelsall Steele was proud to receive the following letter…
