Accountants to Circle Cornwall for NSPCC
The staff at one of Cornwall's leading businesses will be raising money for the NSPCC by walking the entire Cornish coastal footpath - all 258 miles of it - in a single day.
Leading accountancy and financial services firm Kelsall Steele celebrates its sixtieth birthday this year, and to mark the occasion 60+ staff will be taking part in the Cornish Coastal Footpath Challenge on Sunday 18 June, cheered on by family, friends and clients.
Each member of the firm is aiming to raise £100, and will walk one stretch of the coastal path, choosing one of 62 individual walks ranging from three to six miles and graded according to level of difficulty.
All the money raised will go towards publishing We Wish, a book of stories and poems by children from Cornwall's primary schools, produced with the help of staff and students at University College Falmouth to be sold in aid of the NSPCC.
Mike Hutchinson, Director of Kelsall Steele, said: "We wanted to do something that embraces the whole of Cornwall and reflects our presence in the county - our client base literally stretches from coast to coast. When the NSPCC told us about the We Wish project we saw it as a really imaginative way of supporting a great cause, bringing together hundreds of children and students across Cornwall to produce a book of lasting value. By helping to cover the production costs, we at Kelsall Steele can make sure that the book raises a really substantial amount to support the NSPCC's work with vulnerable children."
Sandra Myers, West Cornwall organiser for the NSPCC, said: "We're thrilled to have Kelsall Steele's support for this exciting project. Raising money for charity should be enjoyable - and children from over 40 schools in Cornwall have already had tremendous fun writing their pieces for the book. I hope that everyone at Kelsall Steele enjoys doing their bit on the 18th, and I'm very much looking forward to joining them on the walk."
Kelsall Steele started in Camborne in 1946. We have a philosophy of offering a professional service to all businesses regardless of their size, from independent operators through to large multi site operations. "We are still very much attached to our roots and recognise the importance of both larger and small clients despite the fact that we have grown significantly over the years. Our doors are always open for business no matter what the size of the client" Mike Hutchinson
